The Amergin Creative Writing Awards

Drogheda Creative Writers in association with the Arts Office of Drogheda Borough Council and Droichead Arts Centre are pleased to announce the prizewinners in the Amergin Creative Writing Awards, 2007.

The full list of prizewinners is:

JUNIOR POETRY - UNDER 10

ADULT SHORT STORY
First:                          Caroline Brady (A Bee in the Chardonnay) - Lucan
Second:                    Mary Rose McCarthy (Broken Dreams. Lost Moments) - Bandon,Co Cork 
Highly Commended:  Ann Crilly (The Bellringer) - Drogheda
                               Sean Quinn (The Russian Doll) - Kilbarrack, Dublin 5

The awards were presented  in a ceremony in Drogheda on September 28th, hosted by the Drogheda Creative Writers and the Lord Mayor. The short story judge, prominent novelist and short story writer, Val Mulkerns, presented the awards and offered many words of encouragement and praise for the winners of the awards.

Details of the next competition will be announced in spring, 2008.
